Design my learning journey
This short form is for commercial staff across the NHS. It finds the learning and development modules most relevant to the role you are in today and to where you want to go next.
Answer the questions below to see your learning pathway. You do not need to know the competency framework to use this.
There is a problem
We match your band to the right level of the framework for you.
Your answers have changed. Select “Show my updated learning” to bring these suggestions up to date.
How we choose what you see
- We start with your work area and your band, which set the learning you are eligible for.
- Question 4 only offers competencies that have learning behind them for your area and level, so no choice leads to an empty page.
- Your competencies and preferred formats change the order of your results. They do not remove relevant learning: anything in another format is shown lower down and labelled.
- Where a choice brings back several relevant modules, they are ordered by:
- how well the level fits where the learner is
- the competencies the learner chose at question 4
- NHS Commercial programme learning before external signposting
- learning the learner can start today
- the formats the learner asked for at question 5
- trainer-led sessions before self-paced learning
- If nothing matches at all, the page shows wider suggestions based on your band and work area rather than leaving you at a dead end.
- Each suggestion explains why it was shown.
Browse the competency framework
Every module in the Applied Learning Portfolio is written against particular competency statements in the NHS Commercial Competency Framework. This view shows which, so that you and your line manager can see the learning that speaks to the competencies you want to build.
Choose a job pillar, then select a number in the grid to see the competency statements at that level and the learning recorded against them.
For more about the framework itself, see the NHS Commercial Competency Framework on the Central Commercial Function Best Practice Hub.
Every module is placed by the framework role component named for it in the master module tracker, never by a keyword guess, so a competency with no learning against it is a real gap rather than a missed match.
